Eric Mottay, President of Amplitude Systemes, presented the award for the best student presentation during the "Frontiers of Ultrafast Optics" session of the Photonics West conference, San Francisco, California: 
The prize was awarded to Sören Richter, University of Jena, for his work on: "Breaking stress of glass welded with femtosecond laser pulses at high repetition rates". The winner received a cash prize of $1000, while the runner-up received a prize of $500 All candidates presented a 5 mn summary of their work in a special session during Photonics West. |
